Back to the doctor this week. Crohn's is looking good! Knee is starting to look better. Back track, for those of you who don't know... I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 10 years ago. (Google it.) I have had a rough year to say the least. I relapsed back in October and again in late January. I've never relapsed so close together and I have been on a lot of meds this last year. So anyway... with all of the meds I am now back in remission, however I have had a lot of problems with my left knee. After months of it being swollen and painful the doc thinks he figured it out.
Inflammatory Arthritis. Made worse by the relapse of the Crohn's. Made even more worse (Is that improper grammar?) by the amount of steroids that I have been on. (Don't let me get started on the steroids, I hate them and have gained 20 lbs since October!) So basically because the steroids make you retain water, and my knee already has arthitis and fluid, it all goes to that one knee and makes it swell even more. YUCK! Needless to say that I have been off the steroids for a couple of weeks now and the swelling has gone down tremendously! (Wish I could say the same for the weight, but atleast i got cleared to start Weight Watchers again!) The Dr. made me go get xrays to fully rule out trauma, and ordered a mountain of bloodwork to rule out a bunch of other things, and now wants to drain the remaining fluid from my knee and inject some meds to make the rest of the swelling disperse. Sounds like fun huh?
On a lighter note... The girls start Spring Break tomorrow, and the weather is FABULOUS here! Top is officially off of the beep beep, and David is riding the motorcycle to work. I think we may go hiking this weekend... along with the sunrise Easter service on post followed by another BBQ with the neighborhood.... I'll keep you posted!
