It was another fun and busy week with the Cook's! David is playing softball with the new Company so Monday and Tuesday we had games to watch. We won one and lost one and had lots of fun getting out and supporting the team and meeting some of the other families.
Wednesday Anastyn had one of her friends over for the morning to play before school. Caroline is her friend from class who also has a hearing impairment. Her mom (Heather) and I have become friends and try to trade off, especially on weeks like this. Her son had a field trip on Wednesday and she needed someone to keep Caroline so that she could go and Gracie had a field trip on Friday so Heather kept Anastyn so that I could go. It's a nice trade off. Let me tell you, Caroline and Anastyn are a force to be reckoned with! I seriously feel for their teacher, because these two are something else! They play so well together but two little girls with hearing impairments can definitely get loud at times!
Thursday Anastyn had an appointment with the Audiologist. She keeps saying that her left hearing aid isn't working. They turned up the volume a little bit and things seem to be better. We also had to have new ear molds made and she got to pick the color this time. She chose pink glitter ones!
On Friday Gracie's class had a field trip to Gillis Farms. I was lucky enough to get to go, but David wasn't able to. He sent Perry in his place! Gillis Farm is a farm here in Fayetteville where they grow corn, oats, and soy beans. They also specialize in homeade ice cream. They set aside Fridays for tours from visitors and it is really nice. I was also able to attend this field trip when Anastyn's class went on it back in October. There is a wagon ride around the farm, a video, and a puppet show. The kids then have a picnic followed up with a cup of homeade ice cream. We had a great time! I of course had to come back and put in a full work day afterwards, but it was worth it!
Gracie and Perry
Friday night we had dinner with the Tric's (Alex and Crystal) and Saturday we met up with them again for the XVIII Airbornne Corps Dragon Ride. My friend Laura offered to keep the girls so that David and I could take part in this motorcycle ride. We had a lot of fun! It was about a 2 and a half hour ride plus an hour lunch stop in the middle. My butt was soooo numb by the end! We never get to ride like that anymore, so we were really grateful to Laura. And also to the Tric's for letting us know about it and riding with us!
The Cook's
Now it's Sunday, we spent the afternoon at the Farmer's Market where we bought some yummy fruits, veggies, and some Strawberry Lemonade Jam. (Sounds good right?!) We headed over to Sam's and bought a few groceries and now we are back at home and gearing up for the next week. We have 3 weeks left until we fly to Texas! We are getting really anxious and the girls are counting down the days!
Until next week....
Oh yeah! I forgot where in the week this fell, but Gracie wow-ed us with some serious artwork this week! She brought home this picture that she drew and colored/painted! I told her I loved it so much I'm gonna frame it!!!
