Great week!

Wow!  It was a busy week in the Cook household!  I might have to start posting a mid-week blog so that I don't forget everything that happens! Work has been super busy for me.  Monday night we had another late conference call.  Well, late for me b/c I'm on the East Coast and everyone else (besides me and Sarah) is in Arizona.  I have to admit that it's kinda nice to get off a conference call and have dinner ready and waiting for you!  Go hub!

Tuesday some guy in David's unit failed a drug test so he had to stay extra late.  If a Rigger fails any kind of drug test they have to tear apart the pack shed and unpack everything that the guy has touched.  (For obvious reasons!)  Anastyn played at a friends house that evening so it was just me and Gracie.  That never happens!  We went to dinner together and had a good time :)

Wednesday Anastyn pulled one over on her bus drivers and faked sick!  She got mad at one of her friends on the bus and then turned on the water works, and told them that her throat and tummy hurt.  They let her off first and I could see it in her eyes.  Anytime she gets in trouble or gets mad her throat or tummy hurts.  Or in this case both, and she wants her Nana.  The first words out of her mouth when she got out of the bus were "I want my Nana!"  She is REALLY in a whiny, testy stage right now.  David and I are having to really lay down the law and put up a united front.  I think this stage is harder than the "terrrible two's."

April is the month of the "military child"  So in honor of military children Gracie's school had a family picnic on Thursday.  David, Anastyn, and I took our blanket and cooler full of sandwhiches, chips, and lemonade and ate in the back field with Gracie and her class.  There were tons of families there, it was great to see everyone out supporting the kids!  Thursday night David's unit had an FRG meeting.  FRG stands for Family Readiness Group.  This is a support group for the families of the soldiers.  They do fundraisers and hold events for the families and try to support the deployed soldiers and their families.  David's last Unit (612) didn't do much, but it seems like the new Unit (647) does.  Let's cross our fingers!

Friday night David has a softball tournament, however we couldn't go b/c I had to get our house clean for the weekend!

Saturday I had the ladies from my bible study group last semester over for a "reunion."  It was sooo great to see everyone!!  I miss those ladies!  There are a few ladies missing from the picture, but these women have been vital in helping me transition into this military life.  After the luncheon at our house we went to the Tric's house.  The Tric's aka Crystal and Alex Tricanico are another Rigger couple and they have 2 girls 12 and 2, it was Ally's (the oldest) birthday party so there were bounce houses, slip-n-slides, and cake for the kids, and then Sangria for the adults!  And let me tell you, Crystal makes a mean Sangria!
After the Tric's, David and Anastyn went to bed and Gracie and I hung out with theDeCicco's down the road for a bit before calling it a night!  I love that we have met families that we can mesh with so well.

Anastyn in the bounce house!

Gracie having fun!

That brings us to Sunday...  David has CQ, I have no clue what CQ stands for, but it is a 24 hour shift and you basically man the desk.  He is using it as an opportunity to study for the boards.  The girls and I went to church this morning.  The A/C was broken and it was miserable, but the praise and worship was great, and it was communion Sunday.  So we were reminded of what He gave for us.  We came home and the girls played with the DeCicco's in the sprinklers while I took a nap.  :)  A much needed nap!  David was released for dinner and we had breakfast.  I love dinner for breakfast!  So here we are 9:30, David is back at CQ, girls are bathed and in bed, and I'm finishing up laundry and getting ready to watch "Army Wives."  The week has come to a close, and a new one starts soon...  what will it bring?  Log in next week to find out!

Speaking of Army Wives...  here's a pic of some REAL Army Wives!
